For the last 10 years or so, the AAHPS/ACLTA Executive has discussed the idea of ACLTA-regulated Accreditation for child life therapy professionals – a process by which we could start to regulate and lift the quality of services nationally.
ACLTA Accreditation is the first truly national benchmark in child life therapy – by members, for members. The Association envisions this process evolving over time, becoming more rigorous, and eventually becoming a registration process (as per other allied health).
Full Members of ACLTA are invited to make their application for Accreditation at any time. The requirements are outlined in the ACLTA Accreditation Guidelines – and include reading and observation tasks, professional development records, references, and statement(s) of service. Some of these tasks are anonymously marked by peers through the ACLTA Accreditation Committee – you can read the guidelines for the committee here.
The award of Accredited Australian Child Life Therapist (or AccAustCLT for short) is to be regarded as an indicator of sound child life therapy practice.

There is a $90.00 fee for applications to become Accredited Australian Child Life Therapist (AccAustCLT). Turnaround time for committee marking and results delivery is around 6-8 weeks.
