We are excited to announce that the 10th ACLTA Biennial Conference will be held in Melbourne on March 22nd and 23rd, 2019 at The Larwill Studio (The Royal Children’s Hospital), Melbourne, VIC.

This is an educational and networking event for Child Life Therapists, and all others interested in the provision of psychosocial support for children and young people in health care.

The theme for the Conference is “Challenges and Opportunities”, and has attracted a number of renowned international and local speakers.

We are honoured to include in our program Helen Bevan who is acknowledged for her expertise and energy for large scale change in health and care; Susanne Walker- Wilson, presenting on the effects of childhood trauma (ACES Study) and resilience, as well as Nairn Walker, presenting on issues faced by economic disadvantage and strategies that make a difference.

We are also proud to announce Dr Richard Chambers; clinical psychologist and internationally-recognised expert in mindfulness who assisted with the developmental of the Smiling Mind app, and Foundation House who provides services to advance the health, wellbeing and human rights of people of refugee backgrounds in Victoria who have experienced torture or other traumatic events in their country of origin or while fleeing those countries. We are also privileged to have Child’s Play Charity along with Game Changer Charity sharing how they have seen games successfully used as therapy, as well as providing hands-on experience with virtual reality and other games.

With a focus on exploring challenges and opportunities facing our profession now and in the future, the 2019 conference program has been designed for day one to focus on showcasing research and case studies, and day two to offer a full day of professional development from International and local speakers to challenge and further inspire.

We look forward to seeing you there.
